Thesis developer Chris Pearson said last month:
Oh, and I don’t have a date for the next release yet. The new version is a 100% rewrite of everything, and at this time, Thesis is still very much on the operating table. I expect to finish the bulk of the coding within the next month, and if the past is any indicator, we’ll probably have a month-long beta period before the official release.
I assume he was talking about Thesis 2.0, but then again … I’m sure there will be a 1.9 release … so who knows? Chris, obviously :-)

I tweeted Chris to ask if it was good to assume that Thesis would jump from 1.8 directly to 2.0 (http://twitter.com/#!/dwaynekilbourne/status/70189354693304320). He replied that such would be a fair assessment, so a 1.9 on the current infrastructure probably will never be (http://twitter.com/#!/pearsonified/status/70190178609799168)! I am getting anxious to see this new version; I cannot wait for the beta!
Thanks for letting us know, Dwayne :-)
It’s been sooo long coming … I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait though, and besides, 90% of the sites I build with the current Thesis build are more than sufficient. Can’t wait to see what 2.0 brings though…
I too am really excited… been hearing about version 2.0 since I first bought my Developer Edition of Thesis back in the sort-of early 1.7 days (back when Chris Brogan was using it on his site… the whole reason why I came across the great WordPress Theme framework… )
